Postcard No 23 View from Mt. David c.1912

No. 23 – Cottage Grove, Oregon. Circa 1912 – This view taken from Mt. David looking southeast towards Knox Butte. The large building in the foreground, Westside School built in 1904, directly above it, is the Cottage Grove School built in 1890. In the middle of the photo you can see the spires of the United Methodist Church and Presbyterian Church. If you look closely, you can see the steam coming from the mills on Mill Street, now called South 10th Street.

In between the two schools, if you look closely, you can see a tall narrow structure with a square lighter colored roof. Do you know what this structure was used for? You might even be able to spot the one on the east side of town, it has what looks like small windows on the north and west side with a dark roof. Do you know which park has a replica of the east side hose house?
