The Burkholder Woods General Merchandise store circa 1912

No. 37 – Cottage Grove, Oregon. Circa 1912 – View from the corner of Main and 7th Streets looking southwest down Main. The Burkholder Woods General Merchandise store, built around 1909. The building was designed by John Hunzicker a prominent Eugene Architect. This building was renovated about 15 years ago with many of the original features uncovered and restored. It is currently occupied by the Axe & Fiddle and Kalapuya Books. On down the block are The Phillips Building and The Bank Building, recently renovated. Across 6th Street you can see the First National Bank of Cottage Grove completed in late 1911.

In this photo you can see an advertisement painted on the side of the Burkholder Woods store. What is the advertisement that is currently on the building? Does anyone recall how long the current advertisement has been there?
