This image of the Cottage Grove Hotel, located on the Northwest corner of what is now 7th and Whiteaker, was taken around 1911. This wintery image shows that the wooden sidewalks were very useful during the wet winter months. It also shows some early technology including telephone lines and a windmill. Does anyone know what the windmill, seen in the background on the upper left of the image, was used for?
